The Eye Doctor

With Teri working so hard at her job it has fallen to me to pick up the slack and get the girls to their appointments. I do a poor job sometimes. I have make a mess of Elena's FIFSA application. I have gotten locked out once, done the application twice, had it erased because I can't get Elena's virtual signature to work. When I try to go back on the site, again I am in danger of getting locked out. Sooo much fun.
I am better at the things I am familiar with, like taking the girls to their eye doctor appointments. I took Nastia over on Monday. She has been having trouble with one of her contacts, so she did not wear it over. We walk in, fill out paperwork and wait for the doctor. I'd stayed up late the night before watching 'The Game of Thrones' season eight, episode three, 'Battle of Winterfell' , it was very dark. So I was tired and as I sat in the chair, I felt I could fall asleep, if I let myself. The Doctor calls Nastia and she gets up, I stay. I figure she is old enough to go on her own and one of these days she'll have to. A few moments later I am about asleep when I hear I am being called. Nastia wants me in the examining room to help answer questions and I guess I'll think of some to ask.
In the exam room I do learn Nastia's eyes are about the same as last time and she might have a scratch in the eye that is bothering her. And also that Lasik surgery will not help her, but if she had cataracts their could slip a new lense in her eye to improve her vision. I wonder why wait? I didn't think to ask. Nastia gets some drops in her eyes to open her pupils. It gives her a weird drugged out look.

Nastia is asked to come back and we are scheduled to come back on Monday. Her bill is an adjusted $39.00.
Elena is scheduled to go on Tuesday. We get there, she fills out some paperwork and after a few minutes we both go into the exam room. It turns out Elena's eyes are in better shape than Nastia's. With contacts on both girls would pass New York State's eye exam for an unrestricted license. With glasses on only Elena would pass. Natia can only drive with her glasses on during the day. Elena can drive with them anytime.
For some reason, Elena's bill for the visit is $139.00. I didn't want to make a big deal about it, though I did asked about it, because they said the day before Nastia's was a reduced rate and I didn't want to seem like an ungrateful jerk. Elena's exam was for contacts and glasses. The Insurance card I showed for them both was not taken there. I left on the second day a little angry. We might have to find a new eye doctor even though this one seems nice. We need someone who takes our insurance. For what it's worth.
